Nordic climate think tanks and knowledge institutions strengthen cooperation

In cooperation with the Norwegian Embassy in Denmark, CONCITO took the initiative to gather the strongest Nordic think tanks and knowledge institutions within the climate field in a two-day informal seminar. We gathered to share experiences and perspectives on the green transition and to see how our cooperation could be strengthened.

More than ever, there is a need to create strong networks and collaborations across borders in the climate field to bring more scale and speed to the green transition. This is also true in the Nordic countries, which are in many ways working laboratories in the green transition.

The meeting, which took place in Copenhagen in September, was attended by CONCITO, CICERO from Norway, SITRA and DEMOS Helsinki from Finland, Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and Global Utmaningen from Sweden, the Icelandic Climate Council, as well as the Danish Climate Council Secretariat, the University of Copenhagen (Niels Bohr Institute), the University of Southern Denmark (Climate Cluster), and the Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat.

After two intense days, we agreed to continue and expand cooperation to share knowledge and experience on common climate-relevant issues to strengthen the common knowledge base for an accelerated green transition.

A new annual meeting has already been agreed upon in Stockholm in April 2023, hosted by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and immediate steps will be taken to establish a series of working groups around common priority topics.
